Garbage disposal wont turn on and sink is cloged?

My garbage disposal wont turn on after somebody decided corn husks were an awesome idea to put down the disposal..Ive been pulling out small pieces of husks here and there. But my sink wont drain so now i cant do dishes i can only use the dish washer. Will draino unclog the sink can i use that with the disposal??? I dont want to call someone to do it. What else will work??? Is my disposal broken for good? or is that something i or a plummer will have to fix?
